How Did This Happen?

She was like a sponge. Audrey would listen as her grandmother Sugie (as in sugar) wove the family stories – as well as tales of Jewish legends, wise fools, heroes and holidays - into their everyday lives and Audrey would soak them up, storing them.

Years would pass, and Audrey took those stories, likes precious jewels, along on her life’s journey: to college in Washington, D.C. and through her travels in the Middle East -- from the mountains of a Bedouin camp in Petra, Jordan to the aromatic marketplaces of Cairo and Damascus and to a desert development town and then Jerusalem in Israel.

Wherever she went, Audrey listened and gathered stories, not knowing that, someday, she would help others record, preserve and share their tales as a family and community keepsake.

Now, Audrey weaves these timeless tales of traditions, values and culture into electric presentations that delight and enlighten audiences of all ages and interests. But that’s not all: Audrey believes that the world needs many voices, woven together, to celebrate the gifts of all cultures. So she’s organizing events and shepherding the careers of other tellers who tell, to make a difference.
